John 12:24

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

What We Believe

“More often than not when anybody makes an inquiry about our congregation, one of the first things they want to know is our doctrine or faith statement. Over time we have come to the conclusion that most who make this inquiry are not genuine, but simply trying to find a place that lines up with their own doctrine or belief.

For all the years we have had an internet presence we have always included a full doctrinal statement, however as the years have passed our doctrinal position has changed. We began to realise that truth is symbolised by light and thus we should be ever increasing in revelation and understanding of the Word of God.

By way of example:

  •  We held to two works of grace as taught by many in the Church of God but now hold to the truth that we are made complete in Christ at new birth.
  • We held to the belief of many in the Church of God that we should practice literal ordinances of feet washing, communion, and water baptism. God has revealed to us that we should practice the reality which is spiritual and not the shadow.
  • We held to the belief of the future second coming of Jesus Christ, but God has revealed that He returned on the day of Pentecost some 2000 years ago.

Question: Why look for a future Jesus when He already abides in our hearts?

When you survey the various Church of God websites and study their doctrinal or faith statements they have subtle differences. All this really tells us that these lists, for the most part, are man’s feeble attempts to describe the revelation of Jesus Christ to the carnal mind.

The Church of God does not need her own faith statement, but the doctrine of Christ: the Word of God.

The mark of a true believer is both forgiveness and deliverance from sin and a walking in the light as Christ is in the light. On that basis, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son cleanses us from all sin.

The mark of a true believer is one who will follow Jesus “whithersoever He leads”. That destination is always Mt Zion. Jesus best summed up by saying

Matthew 22:36-40
Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like, unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Love is both the fulfillment of the law and the basis of fellowship one with another.

If you listen and study the messages on our website you will soon discover that we know Jesus and are following His Word.
