The congregation and ministry team of the Church of God in Caloundra seek only to serve our God with all our being in both our hunger and thirst for the truth and then in the operation and demonstration of the truth for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Our purpose and mission is to be a help to both the body of Christ and those who are seeking the truth in search of salvation.
Like Peter and John before us we have nothing of lasting or eternal value except the wonderful truth of the Gospel that sets men free for sinning and sin to live in this world as a citizen of Heaven in perfect relationship with God as our Father.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
It is our observation that there is a common perception today that the work of missions of the Church of God meeting material or physical needs in the form of finances, church buildings, etc. That certainly was the perception the lame man had.
Although we cannot turn a blind eye to those needs and help as we can, it is also important that we do not become the continual source of supplying those material needs. It is clear that God Himself has claimed that responsibility as you can read in:
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Not one of us in the Kingdom of God should expect a lifestyle that we cannot ultimately work for, sustain and supply with the help of the Lord for ourselves and our families.
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
I believe the primary role of missions is to help with the spiritual work of furthering and building the Kingdom of God. The work is great and together we can be workers with God on a Continent that is being prepared for the harvest.
It is also important for us to state that we do not see ourselves as anything special, certainly not as an overseeing or dominant or “head” ministry. We do not believe that the “western culture” is to be exported throughout the world as so many Babylonian church groups believe.
The only “culture” we have to offer is that of the Kingdom of God.
We are simply one congregation of many in the Church that Jesus built.
