In a small chapel located in the town of Embu in Kenya, ministers of the Church of God from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, DR Congo and Australia gathered to fellowship around the Word of God. Who would have guessed that in this humble chapel, God was doing a marvelous work that would reach beyond Kenya to the surrounding countries in Africa?

From the beginning we were encouraged as we learned of how the message of the Church of God had been preached widely in Africa by the ministers of the Church of God in Africa. Over the past year many hearts have been turned from false religion and to the truth as these ministers had faithfully delivered God's Word to their own congregations and to other ministers with congregations. We were greeted with new faces of men and women who had forsaken their denominations as they had learned the truth from other ministers from the Church of God in Africa since our last visit in April 2007. Little did we know that God has been doing a marvelous work in Africa through these faithful men and women over the last year!

From Tuesday 2nd September until Wednesday 10th September, meetings were held daily from early morning until the evening for the purpose of strengthening the ministry in pure doctrine. There was much teaching on the subjects of the perfection of salvation, the origin of sin, the nature of children, the carnal nature, the baptism of Christ with the Holy Ghost and confronting false religion. The ministers then had the opportunity at the end of every day to discuss the subjects raised and share their thoughts and questions. Often times these discussion went on till late in the night. During this time it was evident how much they had grown in their understanding of the truth.

God's Word was truly magnified in the course of the meetings as we studied it. Many of the ministers testified on how the sessions had deepened their understanding of God's Word. It was also a blessing to see God's name glorified as we heard testimonies of God's healing and providence for His people.

The ministers were called to share their thoughts on the way forward and what they would like God to do for them. Every minister showed a readiness to take what they have learned, study it further, and teach it in their own communities and beyond. We heard them boldly declare that they were prepared to stand for the truth in the face of opposition that the message of the Church of God would go forth.

Our time in Kenya was a success beyond our expectations and we were truly blessed. It was an honour to be gathered with men and women of such high caliber. We are confident that God will continue to work in and through these ministers as He already has over the last year. We are waiting with expectation to see God do a mighty work in Africa through these people. Please be in prayer for them that God may continue to strengthen them and equip them for the work in Africa.
